Brief outline:
The Housing Appeals Committee (HAC) is holding an Information Forum in Shellharbour on Wednesday the 25th November 2009 specifically for community agencies and support providers. Our aim is to make sure clients know their appeal rights and agencies know how to advise and help clients appeal about housing issues.
The Housing Appeals Committee is an independent body which deals with appeals from clients (tenants and applicants) who are unhappy with a decision of Housing NSW or community housing providers.
As such, the HAC could have direct relevance for your clients as many will be faced with acute housing difficulties.
Previous HAC Community Agency Information Forums have been immensely successful when they were held in Parramatta, in Sydney city and in Newcastle. The participants provided great positive feedback about the content and also the opportunity to interact with the Chairs and members from the Committee during and after the forum.
Due to the previous success, we decided that the diverse community, advocacy and support agencies in and around the Southern NSW area should be afforded the same opportunity. We will be providing lunch to enable plenty of informal discussion.
